To take a lead role in the identification and assessment of Guest Client eligibility and suitability of Guest Clients receiving treatment at the hospital and initiate the development of individualized therapeutic strategies.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    ·Medical degree followed by specialist training in MICGP, MRCGP or equivalent.

    ·Qualified and licensed General Practitioner

    ·Up-to-date CPD in relevant areas.

    ·At least 5 years of relevant experience in general medicine.


Clinical Care

§Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of medical care, which encompasses clinical assessment, treatment and management of Guest Clients across a wide range of clinical areas including mental health disorders, lifestyle modification and chronic pain.

§Assess Guest Client’s medical and mental health using a variety of diagnostic tests and through interviews and direct observation toestablish eligibility and suitability of the Guest Client for receiving treatment at the hospital and initiate a comprehensive treatment plan that best meets Guest Clients’ requirements.

§Recommend the onward path the Guest Client will take as outpatient or inpatient to effectively and efficiently meet treatment goals.

§Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on Guest Clients to provide information on general medical and mental health.

§Provide Guest Clients with a verbal summary of the key issues raised during the assessment process to confirm and reassure the Guest Clients that they have been listened to and to check that all areas discussed were accurately interpreted and represented back by the physician.

§Discuss with Guest Client the different treatment options (including location of treatment, benefits, potential side effects, duration, expectations and commitment required by the Guest Client) available based on the comprehensive medical assessment to effectively achieve Guest Client’s goals and to plan care process accordingly.

§Present assessment in a standardised format to highlight areas of concerns in a structured way.

§Perform a compressive risk assessment and devise management strategies to mitigate and effectively manage risk.

§If needed, refer the Guest Client to the Consultant Psychiatrist to conduct a specialist assessment.

§Use internationally validated tools to assist in determining the extent of withdrawal risk, and provide Guest Client with their detoxification options (i.e., drug free and/or medically assisted) based on that assessment.

§Conduct detoxification to help Guest Client remove substance in question from body. Clearly explaining to Guest Clients that detoxification is not a treatment for substance abuse but an early stage of their treatment journey.

§When necessary prescribe pharmaceutical intervention to minimise the physical distress involved in withdrawal.

§Safeguard the confidentiality of all Guest Clients’ care information

Research and Education

§Identify and propose research questions and assist in conducting clinical research to add to the evidence base of addiction treatment and related areas.

Undertake an agreed program of continuing professional development and attend conferences or seminars to increase the the hospital staff group to gain a better understanding of addiction, mental health and the role all staff play in the provision of Guest Client care.

Clinical Excellence

Participate as applicable in developing appropriate clinical policies and procedures, clinical protocols, case management, quality assurance programmes as per the defined care standards.

Medical Records

§Update and utilise the information provided on the EMR to expedite the clinical activities, improve efficiency, and support decision making.

§Analyse and evaluate Guest Client data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of health issues.

Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) Involvement

§Prescribe, direct or administer pharmacologic and/or psychotherapeutic treatments, in collaboration with MDT, to treat medical and mental health, while complying with local and recognized international prescribing guidelines.

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

§Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of departmental systems, policies, processes and practices considering ‘international leading practice’ to improve business processes, productivity, and clinical and operational efficiency.

§Provide critical input to support the development of departmental systems, policies, processes, and procedures to meet business requirements.


    §Prepare relevant clinical and operational reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet the hospital’s requirements, and the departmental requirements, policies and standards.

§Key decisions having significant impact on the department are referred to the direct manager for approval before implementation.

§The jobholder exercises financial and non-financial authority as per the level established by the the hospital management and stipulated in the delegation of authority.

§The job require flexibility to work on call, day or night shift as needed.


    ·Broad medical knowledge in diagnosis and intervention.

    ·Expert knowledge of pharmacological for general medical management.

    ·Knowledge of pharmacological and psychotherapeutic strategies for treatment of medical, mental, emotional or behavioural disorders.

    ·Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human’s medical, mental, emotional or behavioural disorders. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

    ·Knowledge of human behaviour and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioural and affective disorders.

    ·Comprehensive knowledge of psychosocial addiction treatment approaches.

    ·Excellent use of the English language (must) and Arabic language (preferred)*

    ·Excellent interpersonal skills.

    ·Ability to work well as part of a team.
