Objective

To work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of clinical care, which encompasses psychological assessment, treatment and management of Guest-clients experiencing substance-related and addictive disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

    ·A Master’s Degree, Psy. D. or Ph. D. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology.Licensed as a family therapist, multi-systemic therapist or similar in home country.

    ·Licensed as a clinical psychologist/counseling psychologist/psychotherapist in home country

    ·Up-to date CPD in relevant clinical/counseling psychology areas.

    ·Postgraduate qualification in relevant areas

    ·At least 5 years’ experience in a clinical, community or clinical-academic setting exposing the person to client groups and service settings directly relevant to clinical/counseling psychology

    ·Multidisciplinary experience across the fields of mental and physical health.

    ·Previous experience in the specialist area of eating disorders and/or the treatment of obesity.

    ·Other specialist experience e.g. commissioning, accreditation, practice guideline development, teaching.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Clinical Duties

§To undertake structured interviews, psychological assessments (including complex psychometric tests), observations of individuals and groups and to evaluate and when indicated diagnose the nature and condition of mental health disorders.

§To lead in the development of psychological formulations of clinical presentations and in the delivery of integrative treatment plans, which include psychological treatment and/or management of clients’ presenting problems and to ensuring that treatment plans are appropriately devised, updated and implemented.

§To guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their presenting problems.

§To provide individual, couple and family psychotherapy when indicated and to assist in the co-ordination and facilitation of evidence-based therapeutic groups.

§To assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of psychological intervention programs based on measurable outcomes and client’s progress.

§Perform any other work-related tasks or activities as directed by the ‘direct supervisor’..

Educational Duties

§To participate and lead in psychology in-service development.

§To develop and implement the hospital service evaluation and improvement initiatives.

§To assist in the teaching of other multidisciplinary team members, clinical and non-clinical staff to promote knowledge and understanding of psychology and the psychological strategies for enhancing client care.

§To remain up to date on recent developments in the field of psychological treatment and to adapt clinical practice to reflect evidence-based client care.

Supervision

§To participate in weekly individual and group supervision where special emphasis is placed on clinical case formulations, personal development, professional and ethical practice standards and performance review

§To report to supervisor on progress and outcomes of mutually agreed projects and professional goals

§To complete monthly progress and activity report in line with relevant requirements.

    §Generic Accountabilities

§Key decisions having significant impact on the function/department are referred to the direct manager for approval before implementation.

§The jobholder exercises financial and non-financial authority as per the level established by the hospital management and stipulated in the delegation of authority.

§The job requires flexibility to work on call, day or night shift as needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    ·Knowledge of substance-related and addictive disorders and co-morbid condition, diagnosis and treatment.

    ·Service improvement experience and knowledge of service improvement methodologies

    ·Up-to-date knowledge of research and development.

    ·Advanced residential Guest-client and ambulatory care Guest-client clinical skills.

    ·Advanced skills in counseling individual or groups in a therapeutic setting.

    ·Advanced skills in anxiety and stress management techniques.

    ·Advanced skills in one or more psychotherapeutic modalities.

    ·Provide monthly activity report to direct supervisor.

§Understanding Substance use Disorders:

Up to date knowledge of addiction psychology theory and of evidence-based treatments for substance use disorders.

§Service Evaluation:

Ability to design and conduct service evaluation projects with a focus on enhancing Guest client outcomes and satisfaction.

§Research:

Ability to plan and undertake practice-based clinical research

§Psychological Assessment:

Ability to conduct comprehensive psychological assessment and clinical formulations and to communicate this clinical information in a concise and professional manner.
